Antoine Griezmann puts David Beckham’s Inter Miami on red alert as Barcelona star admits he’s dreaming of MLS transfer

ANTOINE GRIEZMANN has put David Beckham’s Inter Miami on red alert after admitting he is dreaming of an MLS transfer to see out the end of his career.

The 29-year-old has struggled to hit his Atletico Madrid heights for Barcelona since his £107.6m transfer last summer.

The Frenchman has netted eight goals in 26 La Liga appearances this season – although a fair return, it is not what the Barca bigwigs expect having splashed out for the star.

Despite his turbulent start, Griezmann is determined to win all major trophies with the Catalan giants and retain the World Cup with France in 2022 before jumping ship to the United States.

And at the ripe age of 29 a move to the MLS may not be too far off.

He told the Los Angeles Times: “Winning La Liga and the Champions League with Barca would be a dream, and also my objective,

“After that winning whatever comes. There’s another World Cup so the World Cup in Qatar. And after that MLS.

“I don’t know with which team, but I really want to play there. For me it’s an objective to end my career in the United States with the possibility of playing well and being a big part of the team and fighting for a title.”

This news will be music to the ears of Inter Miami chief Beckham. He is still developing his side, that lost both of their opening top flight games against DC United and Los Angeles FC before the league was KO’d by coronavirus.

The fledgling club has been linked with experienced stars such as Edison Cavani, Luis Suarez and Cesc Fabregas.

Beckham has also tried to convince James Rodriquez to reinvent his career Stateside, while previously insisting the brand new team is the perfect place for superstars as big as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Becks was quizzed over the prospect of making star signings.

And the 44-year-old teased: “Well you know what, we’ve got great opportunities down in Miami.

“We’ve been contacted by a lot of different players over possibly coming to join the team.

“As with any owner, you really want the best players and if we have the opportunity to bring in players like Cristiano or Leo, I have such admiration for them as athletes, if we could bring those players in then great.”

Gareth Bale has even flirted with the idea of a move to the US, after hailing the growth of football in America.
