AMAZING footage has emerged of Michael Schumacher and Jos Verstappen talking about their sons competing in Formula 1… from 18 years ago.
Schumacher was on the way to winning his fifth of seven Championships at the time, while Verstappen had most recently been racing for Arrow.

And during one interview, the duo were asked about the prospect of their sons, then aged three and five respectively, competing in F1 against each other in future.
When the subject was raised, Schumacher, with a grin, began: “We have never had any sort of argument in our friendship.
“I think this could be the first we’re going to have some argument if our two would be racing each other.”
And Verstappen echoed: “Very similar, very similar age so for sure they will compete to each other if they grow up and decide to go into go-karts.”
Schumacher then interjected, with a laugh: “But I think horse riding or golf is a much better sport for our kids!”
Verstappen, now 48, then continued: “For me if he really wants to… I mean, Formula 1 is very far away. And you never know what happens after 15 years.
“But I really will help them, whatever he wants to play. If he wants to play football, I do everything I can to get the best team or whatever, and it’s the same in go-kart or tennis.”
As it turned out Max wanted to pursue F1, and as it happens, is very good at it.

Now 23, the Dutchman is set to compete for Red Bull once again next year – but this time, up against Mick Schumacher.
Michael’s son, now 21, has proven himself in F2 this season – today scooping the Championship in a dramatic season finale.
And he will make the step up next year, having signed for Haas.
Upon the news, joyful Mick said: “The prospect of being on the Formula 1 grid next year makes me incredibly happy and I’m simply speechless.
I also want to acknowledge and extend my love to my parents – I know that I owe them everything
Mick Schumacher
“I would like to thank Haas F1 Team, Scuderia Ferrari and the Ferrari Driver Academy for placing their trust in me.
“I also want to acknowledge and extend my love to my parents – I know that I owe them everything.
“I have always believed that I would realise my dream of Formula 1.
“A huge thank you must also go to all the great motorsport fans out there who have supported me throughout my career.
“I will give it my all, as I always do, and I look forward to going on this journey together with Haas F1 and them.”
