MICHAEL SCHUMACHER’S son Mick saw his podium hopes go up in smoke after a fire extinguisher went off in his cockpit.
The 21-year-old, who is hoping to follow his famous father into Formula One, was in third spot in the F2 Styrian Grand Prix.

Half the race was completed at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg when the unfortunate incident distracted the German.
He was eventually forced to quit the race.
Mick has only made the podium once in F2, that came last season when he won the Hungarian GP.
The youngster is part of the Ferrari development team as he looks to emulate his dad’s seven-time F1 championships.
His dad Michael sadly suffered a brain injury while skiing in the French Alps in 2013.
His condition has been shrouded in secrecy with his wife Corinna preferring to treat her husband privately at their home in Geneva, Switzerland.
However, reports from France and Italy claim the German sportsman is set to once again undergo pioneering stem cell treatment in Paris.
Mick was racing ahead of the Styrian Grand Prix, in which Lewis Hamilton was hoping to capitalise on pole position.
