Tyson Fury laughs off WBO president’s claims he should fight unknown 6-0 Uzbek rookie Jalolov in near future

TYSON FURY was in stitches after he was urged to set up a fight with a relatively unknown boxer with a 6-0 record.

The Gypsy King is getting set to face Deontay Wilder on February 22 in the biggest fight of his career.

But the former heavyweight world champ, 31, had a laugh when the president of the WBO Paco Valcarcel suggested he should face Uzbek rookie Bakhodir Jalolov, 25.

With only six fights under his belt, it is no wonder the Brit laughed off talk of facing the man who was beaten by Joe Joyce at the 2016 Olympics as an amateur and last fought a pro bout in April.

However, he sparked controversy last year when he won the world amateur title despite having fought as a pro.

The response was sparked when Lou DiBella tweeted: “A 6’7” heavyweight in #boxing with this man’s power and this kind of hand speed has limitless potential.

“The Big Uzbek, @BakhodirJalolov is going to be a BIG problem for the heavyweight division SOON.”

Valcarcel responded: “We would like to see him fighting dudes like @TysonFury.”

Fury has an undefeated pro record of 29 wins and zero losses, with his only draw coming against the Bronze Bomber back in December 2018.

And as he gets his head down for the WBC heavyweight world title fight, Fury is adamant he will not be dictated to by the WBO over his career.

After replying “Haha” with some laughing emojis, Fury tweeted: “Maybe if you hadn’t removed me from number 1 ranked Wbo! And put some cruiserweight bum with 1 fight at heavyweight then u could have a say! Haha.”

Valcarcel reponsed: “Champ we respect you a lot, but you aren’t available… that’s the reason wbo removed you from the rankings. By the way champ, good luck…”

Fury is likely to face Wilder again for a trilogy match after the pair scrap at Madison Square Gardens in February.
