Tyson Fury drafts in pal Andy Lee to help train him ahead of Deontay Wilder rematch alongside SugarHill Steward

TYSON FURY has drafted in old pal Andy Lee to help get him ready for the rematch against Deontay Wilder.

The Gypsy King has been knuckling down at his training camp in Los Angeles ahead of the highly-anticipated showdown on February 22.

Fury ditched old trainer Ben Davison ahead of the rematch because he had gone “a little bit stale”.

The 31-year-old then announced that he had teamed up with experienced Javon ‘Sugar’ Hill to prepare for his WBC title fight.

And he has flown in heavy-handed London prospects David Adeleye and George Fox to mimic Wilder’s fearsome punching.

Fury confirmed on Instagram with a series of snaps that he is also working with distant relative Lee in a bid to fine-tune his performance.

The caption read: “Great work today with coach Lee @bodypuncher.”

He previously shared a picture to his Instagram of himself alongside Steward and Hill, with the caption: “Getting the old team back up and running.”

Lee comes from the same traveller community as Fury and their grandmothers were sisters.

The Irishman, who held the WBO middleweight title from 2014 until 2015, boasted a record of 35-3-1 in the ring.

Lee claimed that Fury’s split from long-term trainer was “unnecessary”.

Speaking to the 5 Live Boxing Podcast, he said: “I just feel it’s unnecessary that they should be this strong-willed when the goal, to get the heavyweight championship of the world, is such a big purpose.

“I would like to see them get back together and if I can be a bridge for that, I will definitely be pushing it.”

Fury has insisted he is being put through his paces ahead of the rematch – despite what it looks like on social media.

He said: “On Instagram it may seem like I’m living the dream in Las Vegas, with blue skies and palm trees, but in reality I’m in a gruelling training camp and it’s repetitive every day.

“Instagram would make you believe it’s a whale of a time and I’m enjoying myself and everything is fantastic, but in reality I’m being worked to the bone every single day.

“I’m being smashed session after session and I’m in the recovery pool because my joints are smashed and I need the recovery.”
