Tyson Fury admits there is a risk Deontay Wilder could open up the horror eye injury he suffered during Wallin fight

TYSON FURY has revealed there is a risk that Deontay Wilder will open up the horror cut he suffered in the win over Otto Wallin.

The Gypsy King required 47 stitches and plastic surgery to fix a career-threatening cut above the right eye in his win against the Swede in September.

Fury was in a race against time to have it fully healed in time for his Las Vegas showdown with hard-hitting Wilder on February 22.

And it appears the heavyweight giant will head into the scrap with the issue in his back of his mind.

In an interview with Sky, he said: “The eye is doing well.

“The eye is healed up quite well. Is there any risk? I don’t know because I am not a surgeon.

“I am sure there will be. There is nothing much I can do about that. if it opens up it opens us. It’s out of my control. Nothing I can do about that eye opening in a fight.”

Wilder is undoubtedly the most powerful puncher in the business having knocked out 41 of his last 43 opponents.

Fury knows his opponent will target that eye and has prepared for the scenario by dragging in legendary cuts man Jacob ‘Stitch’ Duran for the rematch.

Wilder has said of his game plan: “I will absolutely be using that cut as a target, and I am definitely going to open it up again.

“I will make sure I open that one up and I’ll make sure I open a new one up too.

“It’s going to be a bloody night for him and all I can say to him is ‘buddy rest up’, you’re gonna need it, it’s going to be a long and painful night.”
