Mike Tyson offered rematch against Danny Williams after being KO’d by Brit in 2004 as he makes stunning comeback aged 53

MIKE TYSON has been offered a rematch by Danny Williams – 16 years after being knocked out by the Brit.

It comes after Tyson announced plans to make a comeback aged 53 to compete in exhibition bouts for charity.

And Williams – who scored a stunning upset in 2004 – revealed he has contacted the American’s representatives in a bid to set up a rematch.

He told World Boxing News: “I can confirm that a few of my agents have put my name up to fight ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson.

“We are still awaiting an answer but it’s definitely a fight I want.

“I’m very interested in facing Mike Tyson again.”

Williams, 46, had a record 31-3 at the time he shocked Tyson but has lost 25 times since, fighting as recently as November in Germany.

Magazine Boxing News last year published an open letter pleading for Williams to retire, but the former British champion insisted he continues to box in order to fund his daughters’ private education.

Tyson retired in 2005, after losing to Kevin McBride.

But he has been using the time in lockdown to dramatically transform his body having stunned fans by announcing plans to lace up the gloves again.

The reformed Baddest Man on the Planet has been training for the last three weeks under MMA mastermind Rafael Cordeiro, hitting pads, bags and working on his conditioning.

Cordeiro, head coach at Kings MMA in California, believes Tyson would only need another five months to be ready for a genuine pay-per-view comeback fight.

And he has received another offer to do so with promoter Brian Amatruda lining up either ex-rugby league players Barry Hall and Paul Gallen or All Blacks legend Sonny Bill Williams as opponents.

Amatruda said in an interview with the Daily Mail: “I’d hold it at Melbourne Arena where we’d get over 10,000 or even Princes Park where they got 30,000 for Jeff Fenech versus Azumah Nelson.

“He might be 53 years old but he’s still a huge name and any of those blokes Hall, Gallen or Sonny Bill would jump at the chance to get into the ring with him.

“I’d make it part of a card with a world title fight. It would be enormous. Not just a fight, it would be an event. The first thing I did was contact (celebrity agent) Max Markson and ask him to offer Tyson $1million.”
