FLOYD MAYWEATHER has announced he will be returning to Japan in 2021 as he teased a potential return to the ring.
The 43-year-old hasn’t been involved in a fight since blasting away kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in an exhibition bout on New Year’s Eve in Tokyo in 2018.
It is believed that the five-weight world champion earned an incredible £7million for the dust-up which lasted just 136 seconds.
SunSport exclusively revealed in July that Mayweather – who won 15 world titles during his glittering career – was in talks about a comeback fight in the Far East.
The American himself then confirmed the news, however due to the coronavirus crisis, he has not been able to lace up the gloves again this year.
But Mayweather has taken to Instagram to declare that he will be back in Japan next year, though he failed to say whether it will involve him being in action.
Speaking to his 24 million followers, he said: “Tokyo, Japan. I am coming back in 2021.
“I know the Olympics is in Japan in 2021 but me, myself, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather and my team will be doing something big in Tokyo Dome.
“Trust line, I want to say thank you for treating me good and treating my team good. Japan, I am on my way.”
Mayweather recorded the clip in front of his incredible black collection – which includes FIVE Rolls-Royces worth over £2million.
The other vehicles include a Ferrari 488 worth around £238,000 and a Mercedes-Maybach – the cheapest of the bunch valued at £172,000.
Mayweather has been branded as ‘f****** crazy’ by lightweight king Teofimo Lopez after he claimed Gervonta Davis is better than him.
Lopez defied the odds in October when he outpointed Vasyl Lomachenko, while Gervonta Davis brutally knocked out Leo Santa Cruz a few weeks later.
Speaking of his protege, Mayweather told ESPN: “Tank has one of the biggest names in the sport of boxing right now
“Tank, with the things that he’s done and the noise that he’s making, and he’s selling out arenas, he has to be the A-side. Tank is not scared of anyone.”
To which Lopez told iFL TV: “Floyd is speaking for Tank. I think Tank needs to step up, he’s a grown ass man, he needs to talk.
“He doesn’t need Mayweather to always talk for him.
“I think Mayweather is still trying to be relevant, I am gonna be honest, I am gonna be blunt.
“I am gonna be blunt as hell right now, I think Floyd is still trying to find ways to stay relevant. So he uses Tank Davis, he talks to the media for him.
“Let Tank do his own talking. Let Tank be a man. Stop babying the man.
“I think Floyd is crazy for this man to think that Tank will be the A-side. It’s ridiculous.”
