Dana White calls Deontay Wilder wearing costume before Fury fight ‘bulls***’ and says ‘that is why UFC don’t do it’

UFC president Dana White has slammed Deontay Wilder’s decision to wear a 45-pound ring-walk outfit prior to being stopped by Tyson Fury.

The Bronze Bomber claimed his crushing defeat against the Gypsy King was due to his extravagant costume, a remark that has been ridiculed by the boxing community.

White has since branded Wilder’s ‘Sauron’ outfit “bulls***”, as he insisted that is why he doesn’t allow such theatrics in UFC.

And he has declared that the 2008 Olympic bronze medallist simply lost to a better man, as he labelled the unbeaten Brit as a “bad*** boxer”.

Speaking to TMZ, he said: “I think there’s a lot to it. Fury looked awesome. Fury fought a perfect fight. But, if you think about boxing and fights when fighters are getting ready, they’re in the back.

“They’re relaxing. Some guys sleep. Some guys just lay around and chill. Then you get up, you time it out, do your warm-up. Then you throw something on to stay warm.

“You don’t put all this gear on and all this stuff. That’s why I don’t do any of that bulls*** in the UFC. I don’t like it. I don’t like any of that.”

White then stated he would be open to working with Fury in UFC, with the WBC heavyweight claiming in November he is keen to fight in the Octagon.

He added: “I’m interested in the future of Tyson Fury in all combat sports!”

“I’m excited to see him no matter where he goes. If he wants to fight in the UFC, I would love it. I’m excited to see what’s next for him in boxing.”

Fury’s trilogy bout against Wilder has been confirmed for this summer after his UK promoter Frank Warren revealed the two are set to get it on for a third time in America.

He told talkSPORT: “Yes, he’s (Wilder) invoked the rematch clause so that is what we are working towards. It’s contracted to take place in the States.

That is in the contract and set in stone unless anyone agrees differently. But at the moment it is due to take place in the US. It will take place by the end of June/early July – no later than that.”
