BOXER Billy Joe Saunders has left fans puzzled after hinting of retirement on social media.
Saunders is the WBO super-middleweight champion and was believed to be inching closer to a super-fight against Canelo Alvarez.

But Saunders, 30, cast doubt on his future in the sport with a cryptic post on Twitter.
He wrote: “Like to thank boxing for all it has done for me 29/0.”
That number is a reference to being unbeaten in 29 fights since turning pro back in 2008.
Saunders has been left frustrated by the coronavirus shutdown that saw a fight against Canelo canned.
Now a trilogy fight between Canelo and Gennadiy Golovkin has been mentioned which could push Saunders into the background.
FANS WORRIED
Saunders’ tweet had some of his fans worried that he was hanging up the gloves.
One wrote that he “still had lots to offer”, while Kelvin Morris added that he “still had a mission to finish”.
Others were left hoping he gets his shot at Canelo, with many believing the post was a ‘retirement’ one.
Only last month the Brit had seemingly not given up hope of fighting the Mexican, even if it meant behind-closed-doors.
And he joked that he would have the advantage if that was how it played out.
Speaking to his promoter Eddie Hearn and former cruiserwEight champ Tony Bellew on Talk The Talk, Saunders said: “If we fight in an empty arena, he’s in my world now.
“He’s in my world. He packs stadiums out, I fill half of Stevenage football ground.”
Saunders was referring to his May 2019 points win against Shefat Isufi at the Hertfordshire venue that won him his current world belt.
