Anthony Joshua sparring Tyson Fury in doubt over fears horror cut could open up again ahead of Deontay Wilder rematch

EDDIE HEARN has warned Tyson Fury against sparring Anthony Joshua ahead of his rematch with Deontay Wilder.

The Matchroom promoter claimed it could cause the nasty gash above the Gypsy King’s eye to reopen before his fight on February 22.

AJ offered to spar Fury in order to get him prepared for his second showdown with the Bronze Bomber after their first bout ended as a draw.

And the Gypsy King admitted he would “really love” to work with the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO title holder.

But Hearn does not think it’s a wise choice for Fury after he suffered a horror cut above his eye during his win over Otto Wallin.

The 31-year-old needed 47 stitches after the fight – which led to speculation that he may never step in the ring again.

Speaking to iFL TV about AJ sparring his rival, Hearn said: “I wouldn’t be surprised if he went out there.

“It’s a bit weird because he might fight the winner.

“Josh is his own boss, if he fancies it, he’ll go.

“Doesn’t matter what I or Rob [McCracken] will say, he’ll just go.

“I wouldn’t want to open up that cut.”

Fury has vowed to make WBC heavyweight champion Wilder quit on his stool when they meet for the second time.

And the Brit is the firm favourite after his incredible performance in their first fight in December 2018.
