Amir Khan donates four-storey wedding venue to NHS to help with bed crisis amid coronavirus epidemic


AMIR KHAN has become the latest sportsman to help out in the fight against coronavirus by donating a four-storey building to the NHS.

With the NHS struggling with bed shortages amid the coronavirus pandemic, the 33-year-old boxer has allowed his 66,000 square foot building to be used by those affected.

Two-weight world champion Khan has revealed that the building was set to be turned into a wedding hall and retail outlet.

He took to social media to announce his incredible gesture, where he posed in front of the building that was to now go into NHS hands.

Captioning the post, he said: “I am aware of how difficult it is for the public to get a hospital bed in this tragic time.

“I am prepared to give my 60,000 square foot 4 story building which is due to be a wedding hall and retail outlet to the @NHSuk to help people affected by the coronavirus. Pls keep safe.”

According to reports, super-agent Mendes has already bankrolled 200,000 gowns and three ventilators for the Sao Jao hospital in Porto.

Barcelona marksman Messi meanwhile has joined former manager Guardiola in donating £920,000 towards fighting the pandemic.

And tennis supremo Federer has confirmed he and wife Mirka will donate £860,000 to vulnerable families in his native Switzerland.

Meanwhile Premier League trio Hector Bellerin, Reece James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are just a few players that have helped to raise £100,000.
