Egonu steers Imoco Volley Conegliano to second victory in Shaoxing

Egonu, who scored 29 points on the first day of competition, recorded another double-digit performance as she finished with 19 points in Imoco Conegliano’s 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-19) defeat of Guangdong Evergrande Volleyball Club. Kimberly Hill added 15 markers to strengthen the offence of the Italian club.

Li Yao, who came off the bench in the first two sets and was a starter in the third frame, led the Chinese club in scoring with 10 points – all coming from the attack line.

Earlier, Serbian superstar Tijana Boskovic broke the 20-point scoring barrier with a match-high 21 points that helped Eczacibasi VitrA Instabul recover from their loss to Imoco Volley Conegliano on Tuesday. The Turkish club posted a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-16) victory over Itambe Minas of Brazil.

Boskovic came up with a solid performance from the attack line and service line, recording 16 kills and four aces, and added a block for her team’s win. Eczacibasi’s attacks and service winners got the attention, but their net defence was spot on as Yasemin Guveli scored five of the team’s 11 blocks.
