Duda claims Best Beach Volleyball Server award
Lausanne, Switzerland, December 14, 2019 – Based on voting by players and coaches, the FIVB World Tour Beach Volleyball Awards recognise the outstanding performers of the year. We now turn to the Best Female Server of 2018/2019.
Best Female Server of 2018/2019 – Eduarda ‘Duda’ Santos Lisboa (BRA)
Eduarda ‘Duda’ Lisboa has achieved a huge amount of success in her short career, partly founded on her strong serving ability.
The 21-year-old isn’t the most powerful of servers, but she is deadly accurate and offers great variety with her serving. She adds fade and uses the weather conditions to deadly effect to put her opponents on the back foot from the start. As such she and teammate Agatha Bednarczuk can get themselves into a strong defensive position that then allows them to transition to attack in a quick and efficient manner.
The Brazilian duo have certainly benefitted from such precise serving. They finished the 2018-19 FIVB World Tour with two gold and two bronze, as well as silver from the Rome 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals.
As a result, they were confirmed as one of the teams which could represent Brazil at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where Duda’s serving will be tested in ways it has never been before.
