Cameroon teams building focus for Tokyo 2020 qualifiers

Lausanne, Switzerland, December 12, 2019 –  Cameroon’s women’s and men’s volleyball teams have begun their preparations for the African Tokyo Volleyball Qualification tournaments that are due to take place in Cameroon’s capital Yaoundé, and Cairo in January 2020. 

One team per gender will qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games from each continental qualifier. The Olympic tournament will take place with 12 teams per gender in Ariake Arena from July 25 to August 8. 

The women’s team will play at home in Yaoundé from January 4 to 9 and they started their preparations with a camp in Poland that featured several friendly matches against local teams.

They will now return home to Cameroon to finalise their preparations for the tournament. 

Cameroon’s men go into the qualifies with confidence high after they won gold at the Morocco 2019 All Africa Games. 

They began their preparations in Yaoundé and next week will travel to Slovenia for a European camp. 

The men’s qualifiers take place in Cairo from January 6 to 12.
