Zlatan Ibrahimovic ready to snub AC Milan transfer return in favour of switch to rivals Napoli after LA Galaxy departure

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC could reportedly snub a return to AC Milan for a move to rivals Napoli.

Calciomercato claims the free agent, 38, is holding off signing a contract with his former side as he waits to see if Napoli sack Carlo Ancelotti for ex-teammate Gennaro Gattuso.

The pair played together at the San Siro between 2010 and 2012.

And Ibra believes he can earn a much higher wage than the one currently on offer from Milan.

Zlatan is on the hunt for a new club after leaving American side LA Galaxy.

And it was reckoned he had already agreed a move back to the Rossoneri after leading them to their last Serie A title in 2011.

However, reports also linked Ibra with a return to Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho was said to be considering bringing the Swede to new side Spurs too.

And even lowly Bologna were tipped to enter the running, although they are now instead pursuing deals for Everton’s Moise Kean and Wolves’ Patrick Cutrone.

However, it appears that Napoli could be Ibra’s eventual destination next month.

The Italian giants are performing well under par this season, winning just five of their opening 15 league matches to lie seventh in the table – 17 points off league leaders Inter Milan.

Napoli are without a win in their last nine matches in all competitions.

And Ancelotti is reportedly being lined up for the sack.

Gattuso is now said to be on the verge of taking charge, and would apparently love Ibra to rally the troops and inspire a climb back into the top four.

But it remains to be seen if Napoli do go down that path, and Ibra could yet end up at Milan – who are one point worse off in the league table.
