West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini ‘has two games to save job’ with ‘David Moyes top candidate to replace him’

MANUEL PELLEGRINI reportedly has just two games to save his job as West Ham manager.

And former Hammers boss David Moyes is waiting in the wings should the Argentinian get the chop.

The Times report that Pellegrini, 66, is on the brink after a run of just two wins in 13 matches.

The latest setback came yesterday against Crystal Palace who managed to come from 1-0 down to win 2-1 thanks to a cracking late goal from Jordan Ayew.

Next up for West Ham is a home game against high-flying Leicester City and then an away trip to fellow strugglers Bournemouth.

The Times claim that Pellegrini’s future rests on those two matches.

The report comes after The Sun revealed earlier this month that the West Ham hierarchy were growing increasingly concerned at results this season.

The East London outfit have managed to win just five of their 18 games and sit only a point above the relegation zone in 17th place.

Their struggles have come despite spending big in the summer with the £36million arrival of striker Sebastien Haller and attacking midfielder Pablo Fornals for £25m.

COME ON FEEL THE MOYES

Should West Ham make a change, The Times claim Moyes is at the head of the queue.

The ex-Manchester United and Everton boss, 56, managed The Irons on a six month deal during the 2017/18 season during which time he steered them clear of relegation trouble.

It’s understood he was disappointed not to get the job full time after impressing during his short stint, with West Ham turning to Pellegrini instead.

The Scot would insist on a long-term commitment this time around as he looks to get back into management.

Speaking after yesterday’s defeat to Crystal Palace, Pellegrini said: “We need to recover in 48 hours and we must try to win our home games because in the last games we played there, we have not collected the amount of points that we need.

“I don’t think we played a bad game today, but you need to have a good performance and have results. Playing away, winning 1-0, I think we deserved a better result, but you must be concentrated in your defending until the last minute. We must be more concentrated in defending, especially for their second goal.

“I don’t know if it is mentality or a lack of concentration. When you are playing well, maybe you don’t need to change, but many times we have had the lead in the score, but we were not able to keep it.”
