Tottenham stars visited Pochettino at home to say farewell to sacked former boss

TOTTENHAM stars visited Mauricio Pochettino at his home to say farewell to their axed boss.

Poch was sacked so suddenly on Tuesday night that he did not get the chance to say goodbye to his players, some of whom were on international duty.

All the Argentine was able to do was leave a handwritten note for them at the training ground, as revealed by SunSport.

With Jose Mourinho announced as new manager at 7am the next day, Poch could not even return to speak with them.

But England captain Harry Kane and Eric Dier were among those who went to his Hertfordshire home.

Kane said: “It was a shock for everyone, so I wanted to go to see him.

“We had a chat for a couple of hours and it was nice to do that before the new manager came in.”
Midfielder Dier added: “It was quite emotional and it was really important for everyone to be able to do that.”

It is understood Spurs’ stars did not know about Pochettino’s sacking until moments before it was publicly announced at 7.30pm on Tuesday.

Club officials banned players from speaking about it after Saturday’s 3-2 win at West Ham — Mourinho’s first match.

Pochettino is understood to be taking a break in Barcelona after getting a £12.5million pay-off.

Kane netted against the Hammers as they claimed a first away victory for ELEVEN MONTHS.

Dier was also back in his favoured position in central midfield and they led 3-0 before West Ham scored twice late on.

Talisman Kane said: “It’s massive. We could have seen the game out better but a win is a win.

“It’s been a strange week and whenever a new manager comes in, you want to impress.”
