Tottenham star Son Heung-min admits Spurs still need to adapt to Jose Mourinho’s style

SON HEUNG-MIN admits Spurs need to adapt to Jose Mourinho’s direct style of play.

But the South Korean reckons his team-mates showed they are quick learners with their victory at West Ham.

When asked about long balls played into him, Son said: “We have to adapt to something new because for almost five years we’ve tried to build it up from the back.

“But we played well and the lads did a really good job.

“It’s been a difficult time — we didn’t have a lot of time to prepare. Getting the three points makes us happier.

“It was a tough week. We had to adapt to new things and a new system, but probably the gaffer will be really happy. We deserved it.”

Son admits there is work to be done after an edgy finale.

He added: “We have to learn some things. We were 3-0 up.

“The gaffer said we have to be focused until the end and we should kill the game and score more goals.”

West Ham skipper Mark Noble concedes the Hammers — with just two points from seven games — left their fans short-changed.

He said: “You pay a lot of money to come and watch us in a London derby against Spurs and we go 3-0 down. It’s not good.

“We’ve gone from starting the season really well to coming off it massively.

“It’s partly my job, and the manager’s and the players in the dressing room, to turn it around so the only way is to grind it out and work hard.

“With the goals we are conceding, when you make silly mistakes you get punished. It keeps on happening.”
