Bayern Munich comfortably defeated Spurs in the final match of Group B, but Ryan Sessegnon provided a crumb of comfort for the travelling fans this evening.
Tottenham’s hosts completely dominated proceedings from start to finish, with Jose Mourinho’s side struggling to string attacks together.

And the Spurs boss will be disappointed with how many of his fringe players struggled to assert themselves on their illustrious opponents.
Debutant Sessegnon looked unphased, however, and took his one chance superbly to equalise in the first half.

PAULO GAZZANIGA – 6
Excellent early save to deny Pavard. Mostly good, confident distribution. Couldn’t have done anything about the goals.
KYLE WALKER-PETERS – 4
Nowhere to be seen as Coman slotted home for 1-0. Given a really tough evening by a combination of Coman, Davies and Perisic.

JUAN FOYTH – 6
Had plenty of crosses to deal with as Bayern bombarded Spurs from the flanks. Tried to be confident with the ball but was given very few options.
TOBY ALDERWEIRELD – 6
Had plenty to do. Defended well but was unable to get Spurs moving forward with his trademark diagonal passes.
DANNY ROSE – 5
Was always going to be a difficult task up against Gnabry. Stuck to his task admirably but often came out second best against the former Arsenal winger.
ERIC DIER – 4
Unable to assert himself on the likes of Coutinho and Thiago in the middle of the park. Skipper on the night had a difficult job with Spurs having so little possession, but he will be disappointed.

MOUSSA SISSOKO – 4
Wasted a golden chance when put through down the right channel in the first half. Like Dier, struggled to make an impact on the game. Very few of his trademark bursts with the ball.
GIOVANI LO CELSO – 5
Booked after a skirmish with Joshua Kimmich. A few nice little passes but was largely unable to make an impact on the game. Was, for the most part, shunted out onto the right hand side and restricted to chasing shadows.
CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN – 6
Knitted play together nicely when Spurs managed to get into possession in the first half. Lovely pass to set up a Son one-on-one in the second.
RYAN SESSEGNON – 7
Pace worried Bayern. Fantastic composed finish to equalise for Spurs. Tottenham’s best outlet.

LUCAS MOURA – 5
Valiantly chased and harried but was starved of service. Spurs’ inability to get on the ball restricted the impact that Lucas could have on the game.
SUBSTITUTES:
Son Heung-min (for Lucas Moura, 65th minute) – Should have done better when twice put through one-on-one. 5
Oliver Skipp (for Giovani Lo Celso, 65th minute) – Looked to hustle and harry the dominant Bayern midfielders and gave as good as he got. 6
Victor Wanyama (for Eric Dier, 81st minute) – Forgotten man, just happy to be out there. No time to make an impact. 5
Subs not used: Austin, Sanchez, Tanganga, Parrott
