Injuries had limited the 19-year-old to just 33 minutes of action for Tottenham following his move from Fulham in the summer.

But with Spurs already qualified with the round of 16 in the Champions League, boss Jose Mourinho gave him the perfect opportunity to impress against the German giants.

He certainly grasped his opportunity with both hands when he smashed past Manuel Neuer after 20 minutes.

A deflected clearance fell into his path on the left and he took one touch before unleashing a thunderbolt into the back of the net.

Other times he showed glimpses of his pace and ability on the wing against France international right-back Benjamin Pavard.

Supporters watching him in action believe they have a real gem on their hands and have even compared him to Bale.

The Welshman left Spurs for Real Madrid in a then-world record £85.3million deal in 2013.

One supporter said: “Can’t be the only one who finds something distinctly Bale-esque about Sessegnon.”

Another added: “Sessegnon is gonna be incredible. Reminds me a lot of Bale.”

A third said: “I genuinely think, once Ryan Sessegnon fully settles into the team, & he’s best position…. there will be no stopping him, almost like Gareth bale did years go..”

Sessegnon will now be hoping to force his way into Mourinho’s first-team plans with a hectic run of fixtures coming up.
