Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane will be France manager ‘sooner or later’, claims Didier Deschamps

ZINEDINE ZIDANE will become manager of France sooner or later – according to Les Bleus’ current boss.

Didier Deschamps is currently plotting to lead his nation to Euro 2020 next summer having guided them to World Cup success in 2018.

The 51-year-old recently signed a new contract to stay as head coach until 2022.

However, he knows he does not have much longer than that in the role.

And he believes that his old international team-mate and the current Real Madrid boss is the ideal man to take charge.

When quizzed about Zidane’s candidacy to replace him, he responded: “The next coach could be Zizou.

“At one point or another, it’ll be him.”

For now, Deschamps is focusing on adding the Euro crown to France’s collection.

And he is not worried about anything else other than results.

He said: “When you’re a coach there’s no age limit.

“It’s the results that make you last.”

Zidane was appointed Madrid boss in January 2016 and went on to lead them to three successive Champions Leagues as well as the La Liga in 2017.

But just days after becoming the first man to ever lead a club to a straight trio of Champions Leagues, he quit the club citing a “need for change”.

However, his absence from the Bernabeu did not last long.

He returned to Madrid as manager in March after penning a deal until 2022.

The Galacticos are currently second behind bitter rivals Barcelona in La Liga via goal difference.
