Rangers star Ryan Kent risks rap after alleged ‘gun salute’ goal celebration against Celtic

RYAN KENT could have landed himself in hot water after appearing to point an imaginary gun at his head and Celtic fans when scoring in Sunday’s Old Firm.

During the lunchtime derby, winger Kent gave Rangers a first-half lead in a momentous 2-1 win at Celtic Park.

When wheeling away in celebration, Kent seemed to make gun gestures with his hands.

And he may now face an Scottish FA charge if found guilty of any misconduct.

The incident left some fans angered and others simply baffled at what the Gers ace was intending.

Twitter user Scott asked: “What the f*** was Kent’s goal celebration all about. Very strange aiming an imaginary gun to your own head as well as the crowd.”

Jo added: “Kent goal well taken, celebration was mind-boggling.”

One Celtic fan posted online: “Wit was Kent’s celebration about made a gesture to point a gun at his head while pointing at Celtic fans. Am confused man.”

The incident echoed a similar episode involving Edinson Cavani in October 2014, the Paris Saint-Germain forward making a sniper gesture towards fans that led to him receiving his marching orders.

Steven Gerrard’s men will surely know all about goal celebrations landing them in trouble after Alfredo Morelos was handed a second booking for a provocative gesture at Motherwell earlier in the month.

Back in 2016, Andy Halliday was also dismissed for a celebration against Morton as raised a fist and cheered in the direction of opposition supporters.

That decision to award a second yellow card left then-manager Mark Warbuton “mystified”.

Back online, Dee pondered: “I’d love to know how Ryan Kent does not get a yellow card for a gun to the head, gun to the away supporters goal celebration? When the most card happy referee in Scotland is in the middle!”

And Aidan wrote: “Some goal by Kent, not sure what the celebration was but looked like one he’ll probably be in trouble over.”
