I FELT that Raheem Sterling’s late goal for Manchester City against Chelsea should have been allowed to stand rather than being ruled out for offside.
We have had several incidents in the Premier League this season where goals have been chalked off in tight situations such as this, so we must record that VAR has been consistent.

But I don’t like it. VAR wasn’t introduced for hairline decisions like this.
Plus there is no definitive technology that can clearly say with 100 per cent accuracy if Sterling was onside or offside.
Was Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma’s backside playing Sterling on?
Cameras used by VAR run at 50 frames per second, so are the images that are released reliable?
We also have to ask ourselves — do we want to see goals ruled out like this in the Premier League?
For me, the answer is no. In situations like this, I would allow a goal to stand.
FULL MARKS to Graham Scott in the VAR bunker after he awarded Sheffield United’s late equaliser against Manchester United.
It was a tough call for Scott to make in a high pressure moment of the game.
But it was pleasing to see the VAR official got it absolutely spot on.
From all the angles that were afforded to Scott, it did not appear the ball hit Oli McBurnie’s hand at all.
I felt the ball hit the front of McBurnie’s shoulder as he was trying to take his arm away.
It was a fair decision to award the goal and I’m glad they came to the right outcome.
