MESUT OZIL was branded “pathetic” and a “snail” by Arsenal fan Piers Morgan after kicking his glove in fury when subbed off against Manchester City.
Ozil did not take well to being hauled off in the 58th minute in the clash against the champions at the Emirates.
Piers Morgan slammed Mesut Ozil after he kicked his gloves in fury
Freddie Ljungberg’s side were 3-0 down at the time after two goals from Kevin De Bruyne and one from Raheem Sterling.
Ozil, 31, was filmed walking off slowly and booting his gloves before being consoled by Per Mertesacker as he was replaced by Emile Smith Rowe.
And an equally seething Morgan tweeted: “Ozil subbed after 58 mins and responds by crawling off like a snail and throwing his gloves away like a petulant kid. Pathetic.”
And he added afterwards: “Ozil’s best kick of the game – to his glove.”
Others poked fun at £350,000-a-week Ozil – whose views on minority Muslim persecution in China led to the country refusing to show the game on TV.
Another user said: “Fastest he moved all day.”
One comment read: “First thing he connected with all game.”
A fellow Gunners supporter wrote: “Overrated, overpaid, again when needed goes missing, what is there positive to say about him?”
One comment read: “He will be injured after that.”
And another user joked: “Who said he doesn’t have a left foot?”
Another posted: “Ozil put more effort into that kick than he’s done for his whole Arsenal career.”
