They are having defensive problems after failing to replace Vincent Kompany in the summer.

But Guardiola said: “No. Nope. I don’t want any players in January.”

Guardiola lost out to Manchester United in the summer in the pursuit of Harry Maguire, oddly claiming the big spending Abu Dhabi owned club could not afford him.

That appeared to irk him at the time as he claimed United could go on and win the title now they had acquired the Leicester defender.

And ahead of City’s trip to Burnley tonight he said that if they could not get their deals done in the summer they wouldn’t be done next month.

He said: “If we cannot do it in summer, we cannot do in January.

“The players we could think would be interesting to add something to our squad clubs are not going to sell.”

Guardiola also confirmed that club record goalscorer Sergio Aguero will definitely miss next Saturday’s derby.
