PAUL POGBA could rejoin Juventus in January if the Serie A champions offer Manchester United £52million plus Emre Can, say reports in Italy.
The World-Cup winning midfielder, 26, hadn’t played since September due to injuries until his brief cameo appearance off the bench in the 2-0 defeat at Watford at the weekend.
Man Utd could accept an offer of £52m plus Emre Can for Paul Pogba
With Pogba’s continued absence long perplexing supporters, speculation has increased further that his time at Old Trafford is up.
Pogba joined United from Juve for a then-world-record £89m in 2016, but has seen his last year dogged by transfer rumours.
Real Madrid were tipped with a £150m move all summer, but it failed to materialise – and they’ve ruled themselves out of the running for a January move.
It is believed Pogba would prefer a move back to Juventus, where he enjoyed easily the best years of his career.
Now Italian outlet Tuttosport claim Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be willing to let the Frenchman leave for the right price.
United would accept a lump sum of £52m, as well as former Liverpool star Can – who has fallen way down the pecking order under Maurizio Sarri, with just seven Serie A appearances to his name this term.
Can, 25, left the Reds on a free at the end of the 2017-18 season – but is in direct competition with Blaise Matuidi, Miralem Pjanic, Sami Khedira, Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot in Turin.
He is now said to have sparked a scramble between United, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain after revealing he could hand in a transfer request.
Sarri, in his first season at Juventus, is itching to boast a midfield trio which is the envy of the world, say Tuttosport.
Once, the Bianconeri had Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Claudio Marchisio in the middle of the park.
But after their defeat in the Supercoppa Italiana at the hands of Lazio, losing 3-1, Sarri wants to add some star power to his midfield – starting with Pogba.
The 69-cap France star played 178 times for Juventus, scoring 34 times, after initially leaving Man Utd in 2012 with just three Premier League appearances to his name.
Since returning to United, Pogba has been arguably more famous for his social media antics and change of hairstyles as his football as he’s failed to replicate the form that saw him become the world’s most-expensive footballer three-and-a-half years ago.
