Napoli player fines revealed with Man Utd transfer target Koulibaly among worst hit with £190k charge after squad mutiny

NAPOLI are pressing ahead with plans to fine each of their players for November’s mutiny – with Lorenzo Insigne set to be docked £320,000.

The club captain, thought to have led the revolt against the ownership’s plan to send the team away on a training retreat, is by far the worst hit by blanket fines recently revealed.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis wants to fine winger Insigne 50 per cent of his monthly salary.

That totals £320,000 with fellow mutineer Allan slapped with a £161,000 bill following his role as a ringleader in the feud.

De Laurentiis enlisted solicitors to draw up the official legal action against his own players, which was officially sent off earlier this week.

Most of the squad will be given the maximum allowed fine of 25 per cent of their monthly salary.

However the Partnopei chief is applying to Italy’s Arbitration Committee for an extension of that amount, enabling a whopping 50 per cent punishment on the two thought to have led the rebellion.

Their verdict is due by the end of February and in the meantime Napoli’s players are left counting the cost of their fines.

Manchester United target Kalidou Koulibaly is due to hand over £192,000, the second-most of the team.

Hirving Lozano only joined three months ago and he came in as one of the highest earners, meaning a fine of £145,000 – the same as Kostas Manolas and Dries Mertens.

Also paying a six-figure fee is Jose Callejon’s £112,000 while Faouzi Ghoulam and former Tottenham man Fernando Llorente will pay £96,000 and £80,000 respectively.

NAP IT IN THE BUD

De Laurentiis felt a training retreat was necessary to help the squad turn around a poor run of form at the start of the month – known as sending the squad in ritiro.

Held at Napoli’s Castel Volturno training ground, the measure is common in Italian football but seen as a touch old-fashioned by some.

And following the Champions League draw with Salzburg, squad members refused to get on the team coach and headed home.

Ultras quickly took the president’s side and terrified footballers fled their homes under fear of confrontation.

Brazilian midfielder Allan’s house has reportedly been broken into with Insigne’s partner Genoveffa Darone seeking refuge at her parent’s home.

Fans have been spotted protesting the “mercenary” players’ decision outside the training ground as coach Carlo Ancelotti attempts to move on from the episode.

But De Laurentiis remains on the war path and has threatened to sell any mutineers regardless of their value to the side.
