Mauricio Pochettino would struggle as Man Utd manager and Solskjaer is best man for job, claims Louis Saha

MANCHESTER UNITED should stick with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager – as Mauricio Pochettino would struggle in the Old Trafford hotseat, according to ex-Red Devil Louis Saha.

United face Pochettino’s old team Tottenham tonight and the North Londoners have Jose Mourinho in charge.

Mourinho replaced Poch at Spurs last month but Saha thinks it would be a bad move for the Argentine if he was to take the Special One’s old job if Solskjaer was to be sacked.

Speaking to Bwin ahead of the clash, Saha said: “Mauricio Pochettino would be a great appointment for Manchester United.

“But any manager in the world would struggle to achieve results with this squad.

“That’s why I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still the best person for Man Utd.

“He has a rebuilding job, and improving doesn’t necessarily mean getting right to the top.

“He knows Man Utd. He needs to get this team playing the United way again and most importantly needs to connect them with the fans.

“Any other manager would find the challenge too difficult.”

United are floundering in tenth in the Premier League and pressure seems to be mounting on the Norwegian despite his insistence the fans are still on his side.

But Saha – who played at Old Trafford between 2004 and 2008 – is backing his ex-team-mate to change the club’s fortunes.

He added: “Solskjaer is the man to take Man Utd forward.

“He has a big job to do and he needs time to make that happen.

“He needs more buy in from the players themselves, they need to be willing to run more kilometres than anyone else, make those tackles and interceptions, work hard for each other and then the results will come.

“That is the first part of the job. If the team can do that, they will start getting the results under Solskjaer and fortunes will start to change.”
