Mauricio Pochettino sacked so suddenly by Tottenham he had to leave players a NOTE to say goodbye

MAURICIO POCHETTINO was forced to leave a note to say goodbye and thank you to his Spurs squad.

He was axed just hours before Jose Mourinho took over — meaning he could not wish the players well in person.

Poch’s message said: “Sorry we cannot come to say goodbye, you are always in our hearts.”

Tottenham’s squad paid tribute to the Argentine manager after his five-and-a-half year reign came to an abrupt end.

Spurs and England skipper Harry Kane tweeted: “Gaffer. I’ll be forever thankful to you for helping me achieve my dreams.

“We’ve had some amazing moments in the last 5 and a half years that I will never forget. You were my manager but my friend as well and I thank you for that relationship.

“Good luck with your next chapter!”

Goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga said: “Thank you for your confidence and for all I’ve learned from you on and off the pitch.

“I wish you always the best Mauricio, Toni, Miguel and Jesus.”

Tottenham legend Gary Lineker sarcastically wished the club good luck in their search to replace to replace Pochettino in north London.

Mourinho is now in charge after penning a staggering £15million-a-year contract until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Manchester United is the likely next destination for Pochettino – with Bayern Munich also in the running.

But Harry Redknapp has urged the 47-year-old to take over at Arsenal if Unai Emery is sacked.
