The 20-year-old has been rumoured to be leaving the German side for months and according to SportBild, United are “very interested” in the youngster with a fee likely to be in the region of £80million.
Havertz recently told Marca: “They (Bayern) are probably the biggest club in Germany and there are many players that were very successful at a young age that went there.
“Therefore I get linked with Bayern but we’ll see what happens.
“There are players that want to stay close to their family and others say, ‘I want to live in another country’.
The German went on to add: “There’s something clear. If you want to be a star in Germany, you can’t go wrong with Bayern.
“I think I’ve picked up enough international experience at Leverkusen.
“I know the rhythm of these international matches and I’m confident I can go abroad at any moment and play at clubs outside of Germany.
“For the moment I want to have a good season. Afterwards, we’ll see.”
Havertz isn’t the only youngster to stand out in the Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho has developed into one of the best young players in the world.
RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram have also made a big impact in Germany.
Havertz scored 17 goals in the Bundelisga last season which alerted the top clubs around Europe.
He became the only teenager ever to score 15 goals for a German club in a single season.
Although only netting twice this term, the German international will be hoping to add to that since returning from injury in their 2-1 win over Schalke at the weekend.
