MANCHESTER UNITED could use Jose Mourinho favourite Nemanja Matic as bait to land Christian Eriksen in the January transfer window, according to reports.
Tottenham star Eriksen, 27, has been trying to manufacture a move away from North London since the summer.

Meanwhile, Matic’s playing time has dried up under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – featuring just three times in the Premier League this season.
Now there is a chance United could offer Spurs cash plus Matic in a bid to secure Eriksen – who would be a great fit at Old Trafford – say The Athletic.
The Danish playmaker is out of contract at Tottenham in the summer – with reports claiming he has already told new boss Mourinho he WILL be leaving.
Eriksen came off the bench in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Wednesday night, but was unable to change the course of the game.
He played one horrific ball straight out of play with no team-mate in sight, but mixed atrocious with astounding as he later played a delightful ball into the box to set up a clear-cut chance for Spurs to equalise.
Eriksen clearly still has the ability, with Man Utd crying out for a creative player in his mould.
On the other hand, Tottenham could do with a Matic-esque player – with Moussa Sissoko looking reckless in a more defensive role.
The French star gave away the crucial penalty early in the second-half at Old Trafford on Wednesday, with Marcus Rashford converting.
Eric Dier still clearly hasn’t completely won over Mourinho, so Matic – who played for the Portuguese chief at both Chelsea and Man Utd – could be just the man.
The Serbian midfielder, like Eriksen, is out of contract next July.
Fans made jokes the day Mourinho was hired by Spurs, suggesting bringing Matic, 31, in would be his No1 priority.
But now that impending move is looking increasingly possible.
