Solskjaer is adamant he already knows how he wants his team to look next season – and says he needs three more players.

To get what he wants he said he needs the executive vice-chairman to act quickly and decisively in the market.

United had to wait late to bring in Harry Maguire on a world-record deal in the summer after failing to replace striker Romelu Lukaku, who left to join Inter Milan.

Solskjaer said: “We do have a clear picture of what the squad is going to look like in June/July.

“Hopefully you get as much done as soon as possible.

“With Harry coming in, Romelu going out, it was late. We do have a plan now.”

Former Man City star Jadon Sancho and Red Bull Salzburg goal machine Erling Haaland are top of Ole’s wishlist.

And he has been promised the funds to bring them in.

United are also looking to bring in at least one midfielder.

Sporting Lisbon sensation Bruno Fernandes remains on the radar after ex-boss Jose Mourinho pulled out of the race to sign him.

United host Mourinho’s Spurs team tonight knowing failure to beat them will guarantee Solskjaer a worse points return than the Portuguese had when he was sacked at the same stage of last season.

SunSport told you how United are looking to deploy five at the back in the game due to injuries.

Solskjaer is toying with the idea of bringing in Axel Tuanzebe as a third central defender alongside Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and veteran Ashley Young would then operate as the wing-backs as Solskjaer looks for a way to strengthen his side defensively.
