LUIS SUAREZ has admitted that a potential move to Major League soccer is a “nice possibility.”
The 32-year-old’s Camp Nou contract is due to expire in under two years, and the Uruguayan has been pondering his next destination.
Luis Suarez could be the first high profile name to join David Beckham’s Inter Miami
David Beckham’s new MLS franchise Inter Miami have been linked with making the Barca hitman their first major acquisition.
And Suarez has been high in his praise of the league, telling ESPN: “MLS is a competition which has grown a lot in the last few years and you can see that with the young players that have moved there in the last two years, above all the South Americans.
“That shows that the league wants to grow and not just bring in players of a certain age that are going to retire there.
“They look for that mix to make the league better.”
Suarez’s international team-mate Nicolas Lodeiro is a two-time MLS Cup winner with Seattle Sounders.
And he recently claimed that Suarez had told him of his desire to follow him to the States.
When quizzed about this, Suarez remained coy: “I didn’t commit to anything [with Lodeiro].
“I had a conversation with him. MLS is a league that any player would be interested in and I asked him about the competition and about his teammates.
“I have a contract with Barca and I am very happy here. In the future you never know, it’s an attractive league.
“Given that I have been lucky to have had success at the top level for a long time, what I would look out for [next] is stability for my family and the well-being of my children.
“They would all make the decision along with me and the United States is a nice possibility.”
Suarez’s Barcelona side currently sit top of La Liga after 12 games – ahead of fierce rivals Real Madrid on goal difference.
And despite talk of his powers beginning to wane, Suarez has remained a key player – netting six goals in ten league appearances this season.
Inter Miami, meanwhile, are busy preparing to finally enter the MLS in 2020 – their Miami Freedom Park home – complete with palm trees atop the stadium, will be ready in 2022.
In the meantime they will play in Fort Lauderdale.
