Leicester star Jamie Vardy equals Man Utd legend Ruud van Nistelrooy’s goalscoring record

JAMIE VARDY equalled Man Utd legend Ruud van Nistelrooy’s goalscoring record by bagging during Leicester’s victory at Aston Villa.

The Englishman scored twice at Villa Park as the Foxes ran out 4-1 winners and in doing so Vardy made it eight consecutive games in which he has scored.

Vardy holds the Premier League record for scoring in most consecutive games – 11 in 2015/16.

But in scoring in eight consecutive games for the second time, Vardy drew level with van Nistelrooy who is the only other man to have done it in the Premier League.

August 2003 was the last time van Nistelrooy achieved the feat having done it for the first time in January 2002.

Vardy, 32, now has an impressive 16 goals so far this season and we are not even half way through.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Jonny Evans bagged Leicester’s other goals at Villa Park.

Jack Grealish’s consolation was just that and Brendan Rodgers’ side held out for the win which saw them stay second.

Vardy cupped his ears to the home fans after smashing the first one in during the feisty Midlands derby.

And if he is going to equal his previous 11 game scoring streak, he will have to notch in Leicester’s next three games against Norwich, Man City and Liverpool.
