Rudiger, 26, underwent a knee operation in the summer before picking up a groin injury.
The Germany international is expected to be fit for the festive period including Chelsea’s crucial next outing with Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday.
According to the Telegraph, boss Lampard is ready to throw him into the starting XI over the next month in a bid to solve their defensive issues.
He will monitor his form and fitness before deciding whether to make a transfer swoop for Ake.
The Dutch international left the Blues for Bournemouth for £20million in 2017 and has impressed in the heart of the Cherries’ defence.
It is believed that Chelsea can re-sign Ake for around £40m despite his market value being much higher because of a clause in the deal.
Lampard will enter the New Year armed with £150million to spend after their transfer ban was overturned.
A left-back, central defender and striker remains at the top of his shortlist as he aims to strengthen his side.
Olivier Giroud is expected to leave the club and Lampard wants to add competition in attack alongside Tammy Abraham.
