But Dutchman Krul kept out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s spot-kick – but the Gunners captain was given a second chance to make amends.
Norwich had four players encroaching but right back Max Aaron’s was the man who cleared the ball.
As Aaron’s body was inside the box when the kick was taken, and he affected the rebound, the Canneries were punished.
Keeper Krul – who saved two of Manchester United’s penalties last month – was left furious with the decision.

The Norwich No1 continued his protests after the equaliser.
But it was soon all smiles again at Carrow Road after Todd Cantwell regained the home side’s lead on the stroke of half time.
The midfielder broke free and drove into the box before bending one around Bernd Leno to make it 2-1.
Unfortunately for Norwich, Aubameyang found the back of the net again in the second half with the game ending 2-2.
