How Man Utd would line up if Solskjaer spends £250m with Haaland, Sancho and Saul firing Red Devils back to top

WITH Manchester United back in form and looking to climb the Premier League table, what better time to splash the cash and strengthen his squad for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City as well as progress in the Europa League have fans looking to the January transfer window with renewed optimism.

A  £250million war chest has been promised and such an investment would transform the United starting XI and surely take the one-time Premier League top dogs back into title contention.

The Red Devils have as ever been linked  with a host of names ahead of next month and could look a totally different side should the Old Trafford purse strings be loosened.

Despite the hefty investment, we think the defence at Old Trafford has what it takes and we’re sticking with the cat-like reflexes of David De Gea between the sticks.

Summer arrivals Aaron Wan-Bisaka and Harry Maguire have both settled in well in Manchester and fill the right back and centre-back berths.

Victor Lindelof will get the chance to build on his budding relationship with Maguire, while Luke Shaw just about holds on to a spot on the left side of a back four.

Now, it’s in midfield where things start to get interesting as we see a new face arrive and a big name miss out in an energetic 4-3-3 formation.

Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez accompanies newly appointed fan favourite Scott McTominay and Fred in a combative midfield trident.

The Spaniard’s arrival, which could cost just £85million, may well mean the end for Paul Pogba who has failed to find consistency since rejoining the club from Juventus.

The France international has consistently been linked with a move away from Old Trafford and it could well be time for United to cut their loses and cash in.

In Saul, the Red Devils would have a player schooled in the high-pressing ways of Diego Simeone which suits Solskjaer’s approach.

Much has been made of United’s lack of attacking firepower this term as Marcus Rashford has been left to shoulder much of the goal scoring burden.

The England international has done so with typical commitment and a purple patch of recent form has taken him to 10 Premier League goals this season.

Little surprise then that the United No10 retains his spot on the left of a United front three which would put the fear into any defence in Europe.

Erling Haaland has reportedly told Solskjaer he wants a move to Old Trafford and it would be foolish in the extreme not to accept his advances.

Despite being only 19, the RB Leipzig striker, who is rated at £80million, is fast becoming one of the deadliest forwards in Europe.

He has 28 goals in 22 games for his club this season and at 6ft 4in has the physicality to cope with the demands of the English game.

That size would also add a useful string to United’s bow in attack which has become a tad one dimensional in using the pace of Dan James, Anthony Martial and Rashford this term.

Pace, of course, remains one of the deadliest weapons in the game and the final piece in Solskjaer’s £250milion jigsaw has plenty to burn.

Jadon Sancho is perhaps the most coveted  young talent in world football and United will have to do battle with Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and teams across Europe to secure the Borussia Dortmund man.

A fee of more than £100million could well be needed to seal the deal, but he would likely be the perfect fit in a fluid United front three.

Man Utd boss Solskjaer will be handed £250MILLION to rebuild the club – with Sancho and Haaland top of his shopping list
