How Man Utd will line up against Tottenham with Pogba still out but McTominay and Matic in contention

MANCHESTER UNITED welcome Tottenham to Old Trafford on Wednesday as United look to bounce back from a disappointing 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at the weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team are floundering in ninth but could welcome Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic back to their injury ravaged midfield as Jose Mourinho returns to Old Trafford for the first time since his United sacking in December 2018.

Paul Pogba is still out having been abroad recovering from an ankle injury and Solskjaer was disappointed to have to talk about injuries again.

He said: “You know I don’t want to talk about these injuries we’ve had, but of course when you get Scott back, when you get Paul back… we have been light in midfield because we had Scott and Nemanja and Paul out for such a long time and that’s affected us.

“Scott and Nemanja are touch-and-go, so let’s get this [Tuesday’s] training session out of the way.

“We’ve got more games than this one, so I can’t just look at one game. We’ve got to look at the long term.

“We will give the players a training session today and see how they are, everyone.

“Of course, Sunday is also still in people’s heads so it is not going to be a hard session, but we will have a good team out.

“We have the facilities and people behind the scenes working really hard to get players fit.”

If McTominay is fit for the Spurs clash after his ankle injury, he will likely slot in alongside Fred at the base of midfield with Andreas Pereira pushing forward to take Juan Mata’s number 10 role.

However, Solskjaer could really shake things up and throw both players back into the fold in an alternate XI.

There is also a chance the misfiring Anthony Martial could be benched giving youngster Mason Greenwood a chance to shine in the Prem.
