How Man Utd could line up with Gary Neville’s transfer wishlist as he demands reinforcements all over the pitch

MANCHESTER UNITED are desperate for a huge January rebuild, according to former star Gary Neville.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer faced more criticism after seeing his side concede a late equaliser in a 3-3 draw with Premier League new-boys Sheffield United.

While three youngsters managed to get on the scoresheet, the result raised more questions to the weaknesses in the squad.

Speaking after the game, Neville was critical of most areas of the squad and demanded Solskjaer goes all out for re-reinforcements after Christmas.

He told Sky Sports: “They just doesn’t have good enough quality.

“They need a striker, they need two midfield players, they need a left-back.

“They need five or six signings.”

BUSY JANUARY AHEAD

And the Manchester Evening News has predicted what a post-2019 United team could look like – with some familiar names.

Leicester defender Ben Chilwell, Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn, Leicester star James Maddison and RB Salzburg wonderkid Erling Braut Haaland all make the starting XI.

David De Gea, who has escaped criticism this season, keeps his place in goal.

There are of course a whole host of other players linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic, Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and even Tottenham star Christian Eriksen have all been mentioned.

And most of the talk regarding players heading OUT of Old Trafford are around Paul Pogba, with Real Madrid continually linked with the Frenchman.

POGBA TO REAL MADRID?

Chilwell takes his place at left-back alongside Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire.

The Leicester man has been in splendid form for his side who are talked up to mount a serious title challenge.

He is also expected to be England’s first-choice left-back for the Euro 2020 Championships.

In a 4-3-3 formation, current incumbent Scott McTominay is joined by McGinn and Maddison.

FERGIE A FAN OF MCGINN

Even United legend Sir Alex Ferguson has talked up the club making a move for McGinn, who’s transition to the Premier League has been seamless.

Maddison, like Chilwell, is starring for Leicester and the calls for him to start for England are growing.

Marcus Rashford and Dan James flank Haaland in attack.

The 19-year-old son of former Manchester City and Leeds midfielder Alf Inge is tearing things up for RB Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga, scoring 15 goals in just 12 league games.

But it is his Champions League form that has alerted Europe’s big guns.

The 19-year-old has netted seven goals in four.

While it may be wishful thinking that United could complete all four deals, Solskjaer will be under big pressure to make some major additions come January.
