How can Rangers qualify for knockout stages of the Europa League against Young Boys?

RANGERS are on the cusp of the Europa League knockout stages.

But it’s set to be a nervous night at Ibrox as Young Boys – the only team to beat the Gers in the competition so far – visit Glasgow for the final game in Group G.

How can Rangers qualify for the knockout stages?

GERRARD’s side have been superb in Europe this season, juggling domestic challenges with their Europa League efforts.

But after a League Cup final defeat at the weekend and losing the lead in the Scottish Premiership, Rangers are beginning to feel the pinch.

So it would be a huge boost to everyone at Ibrox if they make it through to the knockout stages of the competition.

Going into the final game, the Glasgow side top the group by a point ahead of Porto, Young Boys and Feyenoord.

All four teams can qualify going into the last game.

If Rangers win or draw, they will definitely be through regardless of results elsewhere.

Should they lose, the Gers will still go through but only if Porto fail to beat Feyenoord in Portugal.

The only way Rangers can miss out is if they lose to Young Boys and Porto win.

Put simply, here’s what Rangers need to happen to go through on Thursday night:

  • A win
  • A draw
  • A loss (providing Porto don’t win their game)
