ARSENAL could be set for a January overhaul should they replace Unai Emery with Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
The 45-year-old has emerged as the bookies’ favourite to take over at the Emirates should the Gunners wield the axe on the under pressure Spaniard.
Nuno Espirito Santo could bring Wolves duo Willy Boly and Ruben Neves with him to Arsenal if he replaces Unai Emery
Santo is 9/4 to become the new Gunners boss with Emery clinging on to his job following the 2-2 draw against Southampton on Saturday.
The result leaves the club in eighth spot having failed to win any of their last five Premier League games, and fans are urging the Arsenal board to relieve Emery of his duties.
Should the club turn to Santo, the Portuguese gaffer could look to bring two of his star players at Wolves to North London.
Arsenal have to dip into the market in January if they harbour any dreams of finishing in the top four.
And Santo will know he will have to shore up the defence as well as revamping the midfield if he wants to achieve instant success.
NEVER SAY NEVES
Bernd Leno will retain his position between the sticks having established himself as one of the top shot-stoppers in the top-flight since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.
The Gunners have two solid full-backs in Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney, but it is at the centre of defence where the club continues to disappoint.
SunSport exclusively revealed last month that Arsenal are interested in Wolves ace Willy Boly, and Santo could be of the opinion that the 28-year-old would be the perfect partner for David Luiz.
In the middle, Matteo Guendouzi would be likely to keep his place in the starting XI having been Arsenal’s player of the season so far.
He could be paired with Ruben Neves in the middle, with the club being long-term admirers of the Wolves midfielder ever since he was at Porto.
And he could be joined by fellow Portuguese star Bruno Fernandes, with the playmaker believed to be ready to leave Sporting Lisbon.
Fernandes’ agent Jorge Mendes also has strong connections with Santo, with the manager once labelling him as the best agent in the world.
Santo wouldn’t need to change the front three at Arsenal, with Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all sure to benefit playing under a manager that is in favour of fast, free flowing football.
