Hat-trick hero Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal coach make mockery of Sarri claims the Juventus ace is injured

CRISTIANO RONALDO and his national boss Fernando Santos both made light of Maurizio Sarri’s claims the megastar was injured after Portugal’s 6-0 thrashing of Lithuania yesterday.

Ronaldo bagged a hat-trick as his country moved one step closer to Euro 2020 qualification but both him and Santos risked infuriating Sarri with their comments.

The ex-Real Madrid star was subbed off after 55 minutes in Juventus’ game against AC Milan last weekend and stormed down the tunnel after seemingly mouthing ‘What the f***’ to his manager.

The 34-year-old reportedly left Juve’s ground before the end of the game, and afterwards Sarri insisted the forward suffered a knee injury.

However, clearly not impressed by his club boss, Ronaldo went out of his way after the game to contradict the ex-Chelsea manager.

He told the Italian press: “The captain is fine.

“The captain is good, no – he’s very good.”

And having subbed Ronaldo off 83 minutes into his side’s drubbing of the Lithuanians, Santos rubbed salt into Sarri’s wounds with his post-match comments.

Asked if Ronaldo was OK after being subbed off, Santos said: “He’s fine. I had no doubt about that, as I said before the match. Other people did, but I didn’t have any doubts.”

If the feud continues with Sarri, SunSport explored five places Ronaldo could go if he was to leave Juve – including Inter Miami and an Old Trafford return.

Ronaldo netted his 700th career goal last month, doing so in Portugal colours, but he has scored only once in his last five appearances for Juve.
