Gareth Bale given golf club for Secret Santa as Real Madrid ace makes first-ever appearance at Christmas bash

GARETH BALE is on course to enjoy his winter break after being given a new golf club for his Secret Santa present.

Real Madrid held their festive bash yesterday as the Welshman, 30, joined his team-mates for a beaming squad photo.

Former Tottenham superstar Bale was accused of prioritising golf and playing for his country over Los Blancos by club legend Predrag Mijatovic.

But after returning to the starting XI for the first time since angering fans by holding up an anti-Real flag on international duty against Alaves, the four-time Champions League winner is putting the rift behind him.

And one mystery team-mate’s cheeky gift has proved to be a cracker as they poked fun at the row.

Spanish outlet AS report that Bale – who was attending the do for the first time – left 30 minutes earlier than any other player, while in-form Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos were not spotted in pictures shared on social media.

Real have five games left before La Liga goes on its winter break on December 22.

And all eyes will be on Bale’s future amid claims the Wales international could be about to leave the Bernabeu.

The speedster was set to quit for China over the summer but club chiefs pulled the plug at the last minute as they demanded a transfer fee.

Bale has been greeted by jeers since he helped inspire Wales to Euro 2020 but his on-field performances have been strong in a sign that he could continue his Madrid career.
