Fan gets awful Diego Maradona tattoo on leg before Argentina legend quits club Gimnasia

A DIEGO MARADONA fan got an awful tattoo of the World Cup legend at his club – just before he quit the job.

Maradona, 59, left Argentina side Gimnasia last night after just over two months in charge.

The Hand of God legend took over with the side bottom of the 24-club Superliga – Argentina’s top flight – and leaves them in 22nd with three wins in their past five games.

While his impact was fleeting, this fan’s horrendous inking is likely to last a lifetime.

They got a black and white tat of Maradona smiling, wearing a cap with the Gimnasia crest on it and the No 10 next to it.

Under the image, which doesn’t even feature the man’s customary beard, it says: “I believe in God.”

Fans mocked the horrendous effort when it was posted online.

One said: “This is what happens when you use a discount coupon.”

This superfan is not the first to get a Maradona tattoo – and it has competition for the worst.

Argentina’s Ezequiel Lavezzi showed off his during the 2014 World Cup.

A load of social media users mocked it for looking like Kevin Keegan with a perm.

And Dorados star Gaspar Servio got an inking of Maradona when he was in charge of the Mexican second-tier side earlier this year.

Maradona’s last match at the helm of Gimnasia was a 3-0 triumph over second-bottom Aldosivi last weekend.

Before that he was pictured sitting on a throne pitchside when he took charge of Gimnasia against his former club Newell’s Old Boys last month.

And there was a “terrifying” mascot unveiled in his honour too.

This was Maradona’s first managerial job in his homeland since 2010 – when he left the national team.

And it did not come without typical Maradona wackiness.

Being very superstitious, the former Boca Juniors and Napoli genius has banned the colour green.

And one of his first acts was to bring a priest to the training ground to bless the players and dispel the bad energy he thought had accumulated in the previous months.
