Terry, 38, spent an incredible 22 years at the club, making 717 appearances while winning five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, one Champions League and one Europa League.
Terry left Chelsea after their title win under Antonio Conte for a free transfer to Aston Villa.
And after one season playing in the Championship, he retired to become their No2 under Dean Smith.
Terry’s Villa arrived in west London on Wednesday looking to build on Sunday’s draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
But goals from Tammy Abraham, on loan at Villa last season, and Mason Mount saw Chelsea run out 2-1 victors.
The result didn’t dampen Terry’s spirits though, as he got to link up with some old pals after the final whistle.
JT first posed for a photo with close friend Lampard, who is now Chelsea boss.
And he also got the chance to be snapped alongside Petr Cech – Chelsea’s technical advisor.
Before kick-off, Terry received a warm reception from home supporters who hailed their former captain with banners marking his achievements, as well as the iconic slogan: “Captain, leader, legend.”
And fans flocked to Instagram when JT uploaded his tear-jerking snaps with the caption: “Incredible to be back at the Bridge last night and see some familiar faces.
“Very humbled and thankful for the reception I received. Love you all.”
One supporter wrote: “You deserve it all mate.”
Another said: “If Villa go down, job on Chelsea staff!”
One noted: “Welcome back home my captain JT.”

Another quipped: “JT you will always be a legend no matter what shirt you wear, so hoof to see you on the pitch that you belong even if it was just for a wave.”
One exclaimed: “We all know it was the result you wanted deep down.”
Another added: “Love you too, hope you will come back to us soon.”
