JAMIE CARRAGHER claimed the Manchester United board “would not be doing their job properly” if they fail to contact Mauricio Pochettino about replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Old Trafford legend came under-fire last month after a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle left his team 12th and just two points above the relegation zone.

But four matches on and eight points better off, pressure still remains on Solskjaer as United sit ninth in the table.
It comes after Tottenham sacked Pochettino, who has long been linked with an Old Trafford switch, and replaced him with ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
And with the in-demand Argentine available, Carragher said the United board will fail the club if they do not contact him if results do not improve.
He told Sky Sports: “In terms of Ole, there’s no doubt Pochettino was the one they originally wanted and Solskjaer did so well that it forced United to give him the job.
“I agree that he should be allowed in January to get what he needs and look after himself but at the top of United, if this continues into Christmas or January, this is Manchester United, one win in 11 away from home since March.
“With a guy like Pochettino who could take this club forward, they would not be doing their job properly if they weren’t in contact with him.”
After Poch’s shock dismissal, the ex-Spurs manager was straight away linked with taking over at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and United.
But Solskjaer is adamant his job is not under threat.
He said: “It doesn’t bother me at all.

“I’ve got the best job in the world and I am sure if you’re in a job or if you’re out of a job and you’re a manager, you’d want this job.
“So, it doesn’t really matter, whatever happens around it. I’ve got to focus on my job at Man United, do it as well as we can.
“Obviously I speak with Ed (Woodward, executive vice-chairman), speak with the owners all the time about how we are going to move the club forward and that doesn’t change if some other clubs change their managers.”
