But the Northern Irishman quickly distanced himself with the move, before sealing his megabucks new contract today.

The 46-year-old is believed to have DOUBLED his previous salary at Leicester – taking from £5million-a-year to £10million.

This means that only old foes Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho are paid more than the Foxes gaffer.

Guardiola is the highest paid, earning an astonishing £20million-a-year at Manchester City – that’s around £384,000-a-week.

While Mourinho is second, somehow having bagged himself a £15million-a-year contract at Spurs despite having been sacked by his last two clubs.

Behind Rodgers then, are the rest.

Astonishingly, this includes Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Having lead the Reds to Champions League glory this season, and seemingly on an unstoppable march to the league title, the Anfield boss is on £7.5million-a-year.

This is the same as Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who bagged his lucrative contract after having done well as United’s caretaker boss.

Next on the list is West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Hammers chiefs fork out £7million-a-year for the Chilean, who won the Premier League with Manchester City back in 2014.

So club bosses will be even more disappointed that their large investment hasn’t yielded better results.

Speaking of better results, perennial strugglers Southampton are paying Ralph Hasenhuttl £6million-a-year at St Mary’s.

Things have stabilised since the 9-0 humiliation against Leicester.

But the owners would expect better fortunes for their huge salary dished out.

Another to have masterminded promotion to the Premier League, Sean Dyche rounds up the top ten with a very handy £3.5million salary at battlers Burnley.
