ARSENAL are set to offer Granit Xhaka plus £40million in a bid to tempt Leicester into selling midfield star Wilfred Ndidi, according to reports.
Mikel Arteta is wasting no time in looking to offload the controversial Swiss ace in one of his first acts as Gunners chief.
Arsenal are set to offer Leicester Xhaka plus £40m to land Ndidi in January
Xhaka, 27, told Arsenal fans to “f*** off” after being booed against Crystal Palace earlier this season and has been tipped to leave ever since after being stripped of the captaincy.
Arteta knows if the North Londoners are to improve they need to show a little more grit and determination across the pitch.
And the Spaniard is looking to start in the midfield, with Leicester star Ndidi.
The Nigerian, 23, has been a key factor in Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes storming to second in the Premier League this term.
Ndidi has played 20 times in all competitions this term, scoring twice – against Chelsea and Newcastle.
Meanwhile, Xhaka has played just four times in the Premier League since his outburst against Palace.
The midfielder has been linked with Hertha Berlin amongst others in recent days.
Elsewhere, Arteta has decided to keep former interim boss Freddie Ljungberg on the coaching staff.
The Swede had been linked with taking over as boss of Malmo, but it appears he’s now happy to go back to his former role.
In other transfer news, Arteta is targeting Bayer Leverkusen striker Kevin Volland – despite the German being goalless in the last nine games.
