NORWICH have taken aim at Arsenal with a cheeky video showing the Gunners how star players should treat young mascots.
A clip released on Wednesday night, before the Canaries’ game at Southampton, showed the entire first-team high-fiving a lad with Thomas on the back of his shirt.
Boss Daniel Farke was among the Canaries greeting Thomas
Mario Vrancic in particular came in for praise for greeting the mascot in a blatant throwback to a clip of Arsenal players on the weekend.
That saw the likes of Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang walk past a youngster while focused on their game with Norwich.
In fact, it was the Carrow Road club’s Instagram that posted the offending clip online.
Gunners players quickly leapt to their defence and showed the lad later posing for photos with his heroes in the dressing room.
But many had already made up their minds and credited Norwich for their connection with fans on Wednesday.
One Twitter user commented: “Give Vrancic a pay rise.”
Another, Mike, added: “This is how you treat a mascot Arsenal.”
Fan Charles posted in reply: “That’s the respect you show when you are a professional footballer well done Norwich City players one and all.”
And Matt joked: “Love how he ignores the Southampton player.”
Calum Chambers was keen to prove that he and his Arsenal colleagues were simply concentrating on the game when seemingly ignoring the mascot.
The defender tweeted: “The cameras sometimes only show one side of the story. It’s always great to meet our Junior Gunners mascot in the dressing room before every match.
“We hope Billy had a great day at Norwich on Sunday and it was a pleasure to meet him.”
Aubameyang also hit back at critics with the tweet: “I wanted to sleep but i saw these bull***** then wanted to reply but you quicker than me so I’ll go back to sleep a bit.”
